Since chemical warfare agents (CWAs) are used in World War I, it is considered extremely dangerous material. Recently reported Zr based metal organic frameworks (MOF) have been attracted because of its outstanding performance, which effectively decompose nerve agents in the presence of small molecular weight base sub-catalyst such as 4-ethylmorpholine. In this study, we controlled the particle sizes of Zr-based MOFs, especially with UiO-66 consisting of Zr metal and terephthalic acid to examine decomposition efficiency of methyl paraoxon (MPO) in water in the presence of polymeric base sub-catalyst such as polyethyleneimines (PEIs), because the catalytic system with conventional small molecule base sub catalyst may limit the applications. We found that the smaller particle size of UiO-66 gave the higher decomposition efficiency of MPO. The optimized system with UiO-66 and LPEI was introduced on fabrics to examine the decomposition test with MPO under a variety of RH and temperature. |
