Properties of Compatibilized PLA/Starch Blends |

To improve interfacial adhesion between poly (lactic acid) (PLA) and starch, maleic anhydride (MA) as a reactive compatibilizer and maleated thermoplastic starch (MTPS) as a compatibilizer were introduced in preparing PLA/starch blends. Also simple blend of PLA/starch was prepared for comparison. The thermal properties of blends and the structural change of extracted materials were characterized by using differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), respectively. DSC thermograms indicated that starch acted as a crystallization agent and MA as a plasticizer of PLA. |
