제목 | Role of Ti4+ on enhancing electrochemical performance in Li-rich layered materials |
초록 | With the growing interest in high energy density battery, Lithium rich layered oxides have emerged as promising alternative for cathode materials. However, its major drawbacks are pronounced structural degradation, gas evolution, and voltage fade issues upon high operating voltage. Although extensive research has been done to resolve these issues, much of the work has focused on synthesis, doping, and structural modification. In this regard, thorough analysis and quantification of structural parameters that affects the degradation is critical for the development of cathode materials. In this work, we present the unexpected suppressed phase transition during the electrochemical process in the Ti4+ doped Li2IrO3 model. The enhanced electrochemical performance at high voltage is caused by the structural stability caused by the strong Ti-O bond, retarding the complete phase conversion to an O1 phase. This unexpected realization helps to unravel the structural complexities associated with working voltage, and offers insights for designing advanced battery materials. |
