Exploring promising photocatalysts with high CO2 reduction activity is of great importance in addressing the energy crisis and the various environmental issues connected to conventional fossil fuels. Here, we rationally fabricated a catalyst comprising of atomic-level Cu and TiO2-x nanoparticles. The synthesis process of Cu/TiO2-x catalyst includes chemical reduction and photo-deposition. Electron microscopic studies revealed that the atomic-level Cu was well dispersed on TiO2-x nanoparticles. The Cu/TiO2-x catalyst in the interfacial contact region offers a wider platform for effective charge transfer. Taking advantage of these structural and compositional properties, the Cu/TiO2-x catalyst exhibit exceptional CO2 reduction activity, and more significantly, high selectivity. This study demonstrates a promising way to the rational design of catalysts based on atomic-level metal cocatalysts for energy and environmental applications. |
