In this study, we activated pitch-based carbons at various weight ratio using NaOH and explained the relationship between porosity properties and electrochemical capacitance. The morphology and structure of the NaOH-activated carbon (AC) were confirmed by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transition electron microscopy (TEM), and X-ray diffraction (XRD). The specific surface area and the pore structures of the samples were examined by nitrogen adsorption measurements and the total pore volume were calculated using the Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET) theory. Electrochemical behaviors were also analyzed using cyclic voltammetry (CV) and galvanostatic charge-discharge performance. Electrochemical analysis was carried out with a three electrode cell made up of working electrode, Pt wire counter electrode, and SCE reference electrode in 6M KOH electrolyte. |
