Effect of KOH Activation on Hydrogen Storage Behavior of Carbon Aerogels |

In this work, we prepared carbon aerogels for hydrogen storage. Carbon aerogels (CA) were synthesized using a soft-template method. KOH was used as an activation agent. CA was activated with KOH for different temperature and KOH ratios to figure out KOH activated CA for optimum conditions for hydrogen storage capacity. The surface morphology of KOH activated CA (ACA) was examined by scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The structural properties of ACA were investigated by X-ray diffraction (XRD). The specific surface area of ACA was analyzed by Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET). The hydrogen storage capacity of ACA was measured by volumetric measurement at 77 K/1 bar and 298 K/100 bar. This result highlights the importance of the structural and textural characteristics of the carbon aerogels, prepared at different activation temperatures on hydrogen storage capacity. |
