Polyolefin is the most widely used polymeric materials due to its low cost and excellent properties. However, applications of polyolefin are often limited because of its low functionality. In this study, dibenzyl trithiocarbonate (DBTTC) was grafted onto pentadecane through radical chain transfer process in solution to simulate the preparation of polyolefins with DBTTC containing polar functional polymers. The structural characteristics of the resulting compounds were investigated by using proton nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy, (high resolution) mass spectrometry and elemental analysis. The effects of the reaction conditions, such as temperature, on the grafting reactions were also examined. |
