Organic-Quantum Dot Hybrid Materials for Nonvolatile Memory Applications |

Semiconducting nanocrystal (NC) quantum dots (QDs) are widely appreciated for their optoelectronic properties due to the precise tunability of quantum confinement. A hybrid of these potential materials can produce various outstanding results. In this work, attempts to prepare such hybrid materials are explained. CdSe QDs appear to possess the required fundamental properties to be used in such hybrid QD/organic molecule devices. A nonvolatile memory characteristics of a bistable organic memory device with CdSe/ZnS QDs having carbazole based organic ligands blended with polystyrene (PS) deposited on aluminum substrates have been demonstrated. The carbazole based ligands having alkyl substituents different chain length presently used in this study successfully dispersed QDs uniformly throughout the blend. QDs with carbazole ligands having lower alkyl chain substituents didn’t show a desirable I-V curve. |
