The polymers for an optical waveguide must meet a number of different demands such as low optical loss at the telecommunication wavelength, adjustable refractive index, thermal and photochemical stability. In this work we have prepared UV-curable organic materials derived from phosphine oxide substituted with perfluoroether-acrylate in order to have low optical loss and high thermal stability. 1H NMR spectroscopy confirmed the successful synthesis of the product. Transparent and stable films were obtained from the product by photo-curing, which was optimized by FT-IR investigation. The cured polymer films showed 1.35 of refractive index, -6.13 × 10-5 of thermo-optic coefficient, 0.0007 of birefringence, and 0.1 dB/cm of optical loss, which were measured by prism coupler at 1550 nm of laser source. |
