제목 The physical properties of poly(2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate) copolymer hydrogels used as intravaginal rings
초록 Intravaginal devices such as a ring to deliver nonhormonal contraceptives and anti-HIV agents using P(HEMA-co-SMA) hydrogels were recently developed. Although variation in mechanical properties can be predicted easily by changing the degree of crosslinking or the composition of copolymer, the data of physical properties of P(HEMA-co-SMA) hydrogel to be used for intravaginal drug delivery devices have not been reported yet. In this study, PHEMA and P(HEMA-co-SMA) hydrogels were prepared with various concentrations of HEMA, SMA, and crosslinking agents and the gelation time, water content, mechanical properties such as tensile strength, tensile modulus, flexural strength, flexural modulus, and morphology of hydrogels were evaluated. This research was financially supported by the Ministry of Education Science Technology(MEST) and Korea Institute for Advancement of Technology(KIAT) through the Human Resource Training Project for Regional Innovation.
