As water and energy scarcity has become global issues, membrane technology has been widely admitted as practical and future alternatives to solve these problems. For example, to produce safer drinking water, ultrafiltration membrane technology has been applied into several filtration plants and this trend is believed to be strengthened globally because of growing environmental and economical demands. Moreover, desalination technology using reverse osmosis membranes was proved as one of the most efficient separation methods to produce fresh desalted water from seawater. Now, membrane technology can be also used to generate electricity as well known as full cell membrane. In this meeting, membrane technology with diverse applications will be introduced in addition to the preparation methods as well as market analysis. The traditional microfiltration, ultrafiltration, and reverse osmosis membranes will be presented and the recent issues on convergence technology discussed in briefly. |
