Emission- Enhanced Surfacto-fluorescence Response of Conjugated polyelectrolyte in an Immiscible Two-Phase System via Nonelectrostatic Interaction |

We report here a unique fluorescence (FL) response and diverse applications of a surfacto-fluorescence-active materials in an immiscible two-phase system. Water soluble conjugated polymer (WSCP) was synthesized by a sulfonation of a polydiphenylacetylene (PDPA) derivative. Due to amphiphilicity of conjugated backbone and side chain moiety, the WSCP responded significantly to the hydrophobic circumstances, either physicochemically or electronically, in the presence of nonionic surfactants with appropriate hydrophilic-liphophilic balance (HLB). The FL property of the WSCP film was gradually changed according to amounts of (bio)surfactant in hydrophobic solvents. Based on this FL response, high resolution FL images were obtained by using microcontact and inkjet printing methods with surfactant solutions as ink. |
