A Release Study Of Double-layer Valsartan and Hydrochlorothiazide Combination Tablets. |

Valsartan and hydrochlorothiazide combination is used alone or with other medicines to treat high blood pressure. High blood pressure adds to the workload of heart and arteries. This can damage the blood vessels of brain, heart, and kidneys, resulting in a stroke, heart failure, or kidney failure. Valsartan is an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB). It works by blocking a substance in the body that tighten the blood vessels. Hydrochlorothiazide is a thiazide diuretic. It reduces the amount of water in the body by increasing the flow rate of urine. SEM was used to observe the dissolution behavior of valsartan tablet. Crystallinity of valsartan, additives and valsartan tablet was analyzed by using DSC. FT-IR was used to analyze the change of structure between valsartan, additives and valsartan tablet. The in vitro test was carried out to confirm whether valsartan tablet is soluble in intestinal juice. The in vitro test found sustain-release of valsartan tablet. |
