Polymer based magnetoelectric (ME) composites has drawn increasing interest due to its unique characteristics such as high flexibility, easy fabrication, and low cost. However, pure piezoelectric polymers in ME composites have low piezoelectric properties, which is a critical limitation for application of polymer ME composites. In this study, we investigated combined nanostructure effect on piezoelectric phase structure and magentostrictive-piezoelectric strain transfer in ME polymer composites consisting poly(vinylidene fluoride) (PVDF) matrix and CoFe2O4 (CFO) fillers. CFO nanorods and nanoparticles were designed to induce β-phase of PVDF by coil stretch transition effect and to improve strain transfer by dense physical structure, respectively. Both structural effect were investigated to figure out interactions between nanofillers and polymer matrix via XRD, FT-IR, SEM, and P-E analysis, which can provide an effective ME coefficient in CFO/PVDF polymer composites. |
