제목 Oxidized MWCNT Reinforced Nafion Nanocomposite Preparation and Characterization for Polymer Electrolyte Membrane Fuel Cells
초록 Polymer electrolyte membrane (PEM) that has excellent proton conductivity is a core part in PEM fuel cells. Though Nafion membranes are generally used as the PEM, the Nafion membrane has some limitations such as high methanol permeability and moderate mechanical stability. In this study, the Nafion membrane has been reinforced with oxidized multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) to increase the composite properties. The oxidized MWCNTs were prepared using 70% nitric acid at 120°C for 12hr. The oxidized MWCNTs have dominantly carboxylic groups on the MWCNT surfaces. Then the oxidized MWCNTs reinforced Nafion membranes are prepared by solution casting method. The oxidized MWCNTs and the MWCNT reinforced Nafion composites were characterized by FT-IR, Raman, XPS, SEM, TEM and TGA. The properties of the membranes were examined with methanol and water uptake and protonductivity measurement. The oxidized MWCNT reinforced Nafion membranes have enhanced properties to applicable PEM fuel cells.
