제목 Migration of UV absorbers and stabilizers in polymer materials by thermal aging using LC/APCI-MS
초록 Polymer degradation by outdoor weathering, heat, and ultraviolet (UV) light causes chemical changes in polymer structure and affects the mechanical properties and service lifetime of the polymer. Both UV absorbers and stabilizers are used to enhance the lifetime of polymeric materials. Some UV absorbers and stabilizers in polymer even after long time has to present regularly amount to protect the polymer. Accelerated thermal aging at high temperature of polymer reduces the test time and is used to predict the service lifetime since aging at normal temperature of polymer has very long time. We mixed the UV absorbers and stabilizers with polypropylene and the PP sample was aged at 50 90oC in a convection oven. The additive remained in the sample after the thermal aging were extracted and analyzed using LC/APCI-MS to determine the consumption rates.
