Ionic Polymer Vibrators for novel Thrombolytic treatment |

Recently, ionic polymer-metal composites (IPMC) have been considered as a smart material from its inherent ability to operate as electroactive polymer such as sensors and actuators. IPMCs are composed of metal electrodes surrounding ion exchange membrane in both sides, and actuates when voltage is applied from ion movement, occuring in vibrating motion. In this study, we applied IPMCs for a novel thrombolysis treatment combining drug and vibrating motion. Two different dimensional IPMCs were investigated as the vibrator and exhibited its effectiveness in thrombosis. |
