Chitosan has been used in a variety of biomedical applications. However, chitosan film has drawbacks, such as high rigidity and brittleness. Addition of poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG), chitosan-PEG film was prepared. Propolis which can stimulate the collagen synthesis was incorporated within the composite film. The proliferation of NIH/3T3 cells was quantified using cell counting kit. Collagen type I which is a major component of skin layer synthesis was characterized by collagen type I staining. The expression pattern of target genes was examined using reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR). |
