제목 Proinflammatory responses of macrophages by treatment of pectin from root bark of Ulmus davidiana var. japonica
초록 Modulation of macrophage polarization isa promising method in cancer and inflammatory disease therapies. Hence, a lotof immunomodulating materials have been studied to maximize the therapeuticeffect on a specific disease. In this study, we evaluated immune activity of pectin,which was isolated from root bark of Ulmusdividana var. japonica (UDP). Weconfirmed that UDP increased the activity of human macrophages (U937- andTHP-1-derived macrophages). The UDP treatment induced M1 polarization ofmacrophage (THP-1) with apparent upregulation of pro-inflammatory compared withU937-derived macrophages. It might be caused by pectin recognitionreceptor-mediated internalization of UDP. Actually, we found various TLRs werehighly expressed than those of U937 macrophages.
