제목 A Utilization of Instability of Electrohydrodynamic Jetting
초록 Electrohydrodynamic jetting has been recognized as a feasible and versatile technique to produce one-dimensional nanostructures. This study focuses on the electrohydrodynamic instability of charged fluids emerged through an inner nozzle and surrounded by immiscible outer fluids. The instability of aqueous meniscus switches from a round shape to a cone-jet one at a certain frequency. This alternating mode change results in the discontinuous encapsulation of inner component with nanofiber shells. When miscible fluids with hydrophobic polymer are simultaneously transported through inner multi-nozzles, a ‘coded nanostructure’ was fabricated. Furthermore, as the polymeric shell was removed by selective solubility, amphiphilic Janus nanofibers can be produced. They have interesting capabilities to stabilize a oil/water interface as well as assemble into chromosome-like superstructure. These novel nanostructures are able to open up new potential applications in various fields.
