Paramagnetic complexes have attracted much attention due to their wide application and diagnostic values in the clinical environment. Thus, three paramagnetic binuclear nickel(II) complexes of formula [Ni2L2(ox)][ClO4]2, where L=1,8-dimethyl, -bis(2-hydroxyethyl), -bis(2-cyanoethyl)-1,3,6,8,10,13-hexaazacyclotetradecane, ox2-=oxalate anion, have been synthesized and characterized based on i.r., electronic spectroscopy and magnetic susceptibility measurements. The configuration around each nickel atom is a distorted octahedral geometry with the four nitrogen atoms of hexaazamacrocycle and two oxalate oxygen atoms. The pendant hydroxyl and nitrile groups on hexaazamacrocycle are not coordinated on nickel(II) atom. |
