It is well-known that graphite oxide (GO) have outstanding mechanical and electrical properties, which provide potential in nanotechnology and electronic nanodevices. In this study, the hybrid nanocomposites of Pd-POSS and poly(acrylic acid)-grafted graphites were synthesized by self-assembly method via electrostatic interactions as physical interactions. The bromo-modified graphites were prepared by the reaction of 2-bromoisobutyryl bromide and graphite oxide (GO) with hydroxyl groups in toluene using triethylamine as a catalyst. The grafting of poly(acrylic acid) (PAA) onto bromo-modified graphites was synthesized by the surface polymerization of acrylic acid initiated by bromo-modified graphites as an initiator via atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP) conditions. The composition, structure, and surface morphology of Pd-POSS/PAA-graphites nanocomposites were studied by TGA, SEM, AFM, and EDX. |
