Nanodiamond as Multimodal Probe for Neuritogenesis and Super-Resolution Imaging |

Nanodiamond has been widely applied in biological field such as cell tracking and imaging agent owing to cytocompatibility, bioactivity, and high photobleaching threshold. Recent studies have suggested the neurogenic feasibility of nanodiamond, however, there has been no reports that focus on the multimodal characteristics of nanodiamond which can be used as imaging probe and neuritogenesis-inducing capability. Herein, we explored neuritogenesis-inducing capability of nanodiamond on HT-22 mouse hippocampal neuronal cells and the customized direct stochastic optical reconstruction microscopy (dSTORM) system enabled super high-resolution imaging of neurites. We emphasize the potential of nanodiamond as a multimodal probe capable of regeneration of nerval tissues and high-resolution neural cell imaging. |
