Radiation-Grafted Ion-Exchange Membranes for Ionomeric Polymer-Metal Composites |
초록 |
Ionic membranes have been used as the matrix of ionomeric polymer-metal composites (IPMCs) for bending actuators of artificial muscles. Fluoropolymers with hydrophlilc pendants are appliable to IPMCs polymer matrix. A series of commercial fluoropolymer films were irradiated with γ-rays in order to graft styrene through the bulk after swelling. The influence of the grafting conditions and the initial matrix type was investigated. Styrene-grafted fluoropolymers were sulfonated with chlorosulfonic acid. A degree of sulfonation was determined by the ion-exchange capacity. Thermal analysis and X-ray diffraction experiments were performed to determine the changes in crystallinity and structure during the preparation. Mechanical properties of styrene-grafted fluoropolymers were investigated by universal testing machine and dynamic mechanical analysis. |
