Effective Fabrication and Experimental Analysis of Improved IPMC (ionic polymer-metal composite) Actuator with Ionic liquids |

Recently, IPMC soaked with ionic liquids (ILs) has been considered as a stable air-operating actuator, but surely has limited performance such as slow bending rate and low electrochemical deformation than that with water. In this study, we first produced advanced IPMC that exhibit remarkably higher capability than traditional IPMC by using effective ILs-imbibing processes with synthesized ETFE-g-PSSA (0.2 to 3.0 meq/g). These were characterized by using AC impedance, FE-SEM, FT-Raman, SAXS, etc. On the average, experimental results indicated that it can be maximumly deformed 2 times more for 300 times longer at the same applied conditions. |
