A new p-type polymer was synthesized by the Suzuki coupling reaction. The monomers were prepared with highly overall yields and the obtained polymer is confirmed by elemental analysis, 1H NMR, 13C NMR, FT-IR, UV absorption, photoluminescence (PL), and cyclic voltammetry (CV). The polymer contains alkyl-substituted thiophene and we are expected to have a high solubility by introducing the alkyl-chain. Furthermore, the introduction of the alkyl chain can increase the degree of orderness by self-assembly. The thermal property of polymer was confirmed by using the thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). The polymer was showed 5% weight losing temperature at 401.89 oC. The number-, weight-average molecular weight of the polymers were 9814 and 18817, determined by gel permeation chromatography (GPC) using polystyrene standards for calibration in the eluent THF. The band-gap of polymer is 2.01 eV and the HOMO is 5.37 eV. |
