In this study, we have found a simple and cost-effective procedure for coating aluminum-oxide nanoflakes, whose thickness is ranging from 10nm to 20nm and width is 100nm ~ 200nm, on electrospun nanofibrous mats by oxidizing aluminum foil in distilled water bath without any conventional precursors. Aluminum oxide nanoflakes with different shape and density of coating were observed as varying with bath conditions (temperature and times) and diameter of nanofibers templates. Using this coating technique, we have prepared high-surface-area hollow (HASH) α-Al2O3 nanofibers have been prepared following by pyrolysis of nanofiber templates in air at 1,200°C. The obtained alumina fibers were investigated by X-ray diffraction(XRD), field emission scanning electron microscopy(FE-SEM) with Energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy(EDX), and transmission electron microscopy(TEM) with selected area electron diffraction(SAED), respectively. |
