제목 A Biodegradable Suture Enabled with Local Delivery of Diclofenac Sodium for Pain Relief
초록 To treat a post-operative pain, conventional oral delivery of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) has been widely used. However, this therapy can lead to adverse side effects such as gastrointestinal complications. In this reason, we fabricated a drug delivery film composed of a biocompatible polymer (PLGA) and a pain relief drug (diclofenac), which is physically winded to the original biodegradable suture. Then, we evaluated in vitro drug release profile of this suture assembled with the drug delivery film with 5% w/w diclofenac. The suture assembled with drug-loaded films possessed 23.7±1.2 μg/cm diclofenac and released 15.5±0.6 μg/cm during the first day, where the rest of drug in suture was released for the next 9 days at 1 μg/cm/day.
