Due to the aging of the population, patients with cerebrovascular disease or diabetes and chronic wounds, including complications of ulcers and diabetic foot ulcers, are increasing rapidly. For this reason, there have been many studies to develop wound sensors based on various targets. MMP-9 is considered as a major marker because it is over-expressed when wounds are exacerbated. Previous studies have confirmed that fluorescence increases with the quantity of MMP-9 of hydrogel. In this study, we have developed a technique for immobilizing a FRET-peptide of hydrogel on PDMS supports to quantify MMP-9 concentration in a certain solution. When the fluorescent peptide that is cleaved by a specific protease, the amount of MMP-9 can be measured by the fluorescence increase of the hydrogel. This hydrogel-based biosensor could be an important tool for improving as patch type wound dressing or flexible device in the medical filed. |
