Composition Drifts in Copolymer Nanoparticles Prepared by Emulsion Polymerization using Microwave Irradiation |
초록 |
Emulsion polymerizations of polystyrene(PSt), poly(butyl acrylate)(PBA) and their copolymers under microwave irradiation were studied. Potassium persulfate(KPS), sodium lauryl sulfate(SLS) and t-dodecyl mercaptan(TDM) were used as an initiator, a surfactant and a chain transfer agent respectively. The effecs of various parameters of emulsion polymerization were analyzed for two methods; microwave irradiation and conventional heating. The resulting PSt/PBA copolymer compositions for overall St/BA monomer compositions were found to be considerably different in microwave irradiation and conventional heating. Copolymerization rate by microwave irradiation was increased compared to conventional heating These results indicates that microwave irradiation has a significant non-thermal effect on emulsion copolymerization so as to effectively accelerate and stabilize the polymerization process. Characteristics of copolymers were evaluated by differential scanning calorimeter(DSC) and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(FT-IR). Morphologies of the copolymerized particles were investigated by scanning electron microscopy(SEM).
