Hydrophobically modified(HM) silk fibroin and HM alginate were formed by covalent attachment of hydrophobic group to silk fibroin and alginate molecules. Monoolein(MO) in water forms a lamellar structure, a n inverted hexagonal phase, or a bicontinuous inverted cubic phase. Since cubic phases are biocompatible and biodegradable, cubic phases were widely available drug delivery systems. Cubic phase has lipid matrix and water channel. Cubic phases containing HM-silk fibroin and HM-alginate were prepared by hydrating MO using the solution. A HM-silk fibroin and HM-alginate were prepared synthesis; it is included in the cubic phases so that the content was 20mg/ml. Cubic phase was pH-depentdent in terms of release. HM-silk fibroin and HM-alginate solution in the water channel of cubic phase will take a sol form or a gel form, depeding the pH in surround. As a result, diffusion through the water channel would be varied in a pH-dependent manner. |
