Inverted organic solar cell fabricated using various Au nanostructures for high Power Conversion Efficiency: Plasmonic effects |

Recent advanced in molecular organic photovoltaics (OPVs) have shown 8.9% power conversion efficiency (PCE) in case of single junction OPVs in conventional structure. In this study, we achieved almost 8% PCE of inverted structure using three types of Au nanoparticles. Which are Au nanosphere and Au nanorods. Which Au nanorods have two different sizes. We used a low-bandgap polymer PTB7 (polythienothiophene-co-benzodithiophenes 7) as a donor and phenyl-C71-butyric acid methyl ester as a acceptor and ZnO, poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene):poly-(styrenesulfonate) (PEDOT:PSS) were used as buffer layers. This inverted structure OPV showed a PCE of ~7%. Incorporation of Au rod, sphere into PEDOT:PSS was performed for plasmonic effect OPV’s showed PCE of ~8%. |
