Polyaniline (PANI) has been known for more than a century and is unique among inherently conducting polymers for its facile synthetic process, good environmental stability, and redox activity. But several problems have been pointed out for PANI. Such dopants could be evaporated from the polymer matrix at high temperatures causing a decrease in conductivity. To overcome this problem, we have investigated PANI doped by new multi-functional sulfonic acid. PANI film with multi-functional dopant exhibit enhanced thermal stability compared to that with conventional camphorsulfonic acid (CSA) dopant. The PANI doped by multi-functional sulfonic acid and CSA was retained its initial conductivity about 50 % after heating at 150 ℃ for 10 hour while the PANI film doped by only CSA was retained its initial conductivity about 25 %. |
