Heat pump assisted the batch distillation for waste refrigerant reclamation |

The energy cost increase has forced industry to reduce its energy consumption. In addition, the tendency to reduce the usage of fossil energy and the strict environmental regulations caused by the climate change have intensively forced the scientists to reduce its energy consumption by adopting enhanced distillation methods. One of popular methods enhancing the energy efficiency is the heat pump technique. The heat pump application is economically attractive and useful in decreasing the energy consumption when the temperature difference between the top and bottom of column is small. In a waste refrigerant reclamation, the batch distillation can be enhanced by the heat pump. This study aims to apply the heat pump to the exiting batch distillation of the waste refrigerant reclamation, investigate the energy saving and validity of the application of the heat pump.
