Hybrid organic/inorganic nanocomposites composed of inorganic nanoparticles and organic polymers are novel and unique class of nanomaterial and can be potentially used in the various fields. Silica nanoparticles have been used for a variety of applications depending on their size, porosity, and hardness by controlling the interparticle aggregation with the method of chemical modification of the silica surface. In this work, hybrid organic/inorganic nanocomposites were synthesized from well-dispersed spherical silica nanoparticles which were prepared from colloidal silica and methyltrimethoxysilane, followed by the incorporation into acryl adhesive to improve the mechanical properties and durabilities. The particles were characterized by FT-IR, UV-Vis. The morphology of the resulting nanocomposites was examined by FE-SEM, TEM, and AFM. The thermal properties of nanocomposites were determined by TGA and DSC. The synthesized nanocomposites were also evaluated their adhesion properties. |
