Porous polymer microspheres find many applications as ion-exchange resin, support for bio-materials, substrate for catalyst deposition, and optic materials. Most of the synthesis methods depend on the suspension polymerization or multistage seeded polymerization However, the two approaches have inevitable drawbacks; it is difficult to control particle size distribution in the former and time-consuming meticulous procedures are necessary in the latter. In this work, we present a simple and novel preparation method of porous polymer micropheres based on SPG membrane emulsification and subsequent polymerization. |
