제목 Size effect of cyano-stilbene derivatives in solutions and on Langmuir-Blodgett films
초록 The objective of the present research is to report the synthesis of a series of cyano-stilbene derivatives by attaching phenylene, naphthalene and anthracene to the cyano-stilbene structure. These molecules are similar to the previously reported CN-TFMBE and CN-MBE in that all of them are twisted in dilute solution, but more planar and conjugated conformation is favored in solid state leading to effective π-conjugation for the fluorescence emission ( J-aggregate). Through Langmuir-Blodgett method, the larger area per molecule with molecules can be explained by the increasing the size of functional group. We have analyzed that the UV-vis absorption spectrum of cyano-stilbene derivatives in solution and on the Langmuir-Blodgett (LB) multilayer thin films, respectively. The absorption spectra for the solution show red-shift with increasing size of functional group. The UV-vis absorption spectra for the LB films exhibit a blue-shift as compared to solution states.
