In this study, hollow carbon spheres were prepared by carbonization of poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA)/polyacrylonitrile (PAN) core/shell polymer spheres. PMMA/PAN core/shell spheres were prepared using two-step surfactant-free emulsion polymerization. The PMMA/PAN core/shell spheres were stabilized in air and then carbonized under N2 atmosphere to obtain hollow carbon spheres. The hollow carbon spheres were characterized by dynamic light scattering, TGA, SEM, FT-IR, XPS, XRD, and Raman spectroscopy. |
