The 3D reconstruction techniques have been developed to describe catalyst layer (CL) nano-structure for polymer electrolyte membrane fuel cell (PEMFC). The more precise nano-structure model is required to replace a previous models that does not considering interconnection of the CL structural elements that consist of catalyst, substrate, electrolyte and pore. In this study, a suitable method among the various reconstruction techniques is devised to analyze CL structure numerically. The data of catalyst utilization is acquired by detecting actual reaction surface, namely triple phase boundary in the reconstructed structure. The result showed the effect of structure parameters such as composition, porosity. Not only this process is applicable to other materials but also it would contribute to improve electrode performance. |
