Noble metal nanostructures have attracted a great deal of attentions owing to their potent applications in diverse fields, including biological and biomedical sensing, catalysis, photothermal therapy, photocatalysis, and so on. Additionally, significant effort has been devoted to the synthesis of heterogeneous nanostructures, in which different metal nanoparticles may coexist or interact in synergy. In this regard, we present heterogeneous metal nanoparticle assemblies comprising of Au core and Ag satellite via bioinspired polydopamine (PDA) approach. First, we coated the surface of Au NPs with PDA layer under alkaline condition. Herein, PDA layer was used as stabilizing and reduction agent for the generation of Ag NPs onto the surface of PDA-modified Au NP. Furthermore, we assessed the photocatalytic activity of the final assemblies for the reduction of 4-nitrophenol to 4-aminophenol in the presence of NaBH4. |
