Various 4-substituted benzoic acids such as 2,4,6-trimethylphenoxybenzoic acid (TMPBA), 4-aminobenzoic acid (ABA), 4-hydroxybenzoic acid (HBA), 4-ethoxybenzoic acid (EBA), 4-methoxybenzoic acid (MBA), 4-iodobenzoic acid (IBA), 4-bromobenzoic acid (BBA), 4-chlorobenzoic acid (CBA), 4-fluorobenzoic acid (FBA), and 4-nitrobenzoic acid (NBA) were introduced onto the surface of multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWNTs) via Friedel-Crafts acylation in PPA/P2O5 medium, which we were developed as part of our research toward improving the dispersion, interfacial adhesion, solution, and melt processabilities of nanocomposites. |
