4-Chlorobenzoyl group introduced-multiwalled carbon nanotube (CB-MWNT) was prepared from a reaction of 4-chlorobenzoic acid and MWNT via Friedel-Crafts acylation using polyphosphoric acid/phosphorus pentoxide as a reaction medium. And then, PPS/MWNT nanocomposites were prepared by using the self-condensation polymerization of 4-chlorobenzene thiol (CBT) with a small amount of CB-MWNT as a comonomer. The effects of CB-MWNT on the thermal and physical properties of PPS/CB-MWNT nanocomposites were investigated by using SEM, DSC and TGA. Although both PPS polymers were polymerized from CBT, neat PPS showed a lower melting temperature and a higher melt-crystallization temperature than PPS in PPS/CB-MWNT nanocomposites, presumably due to the high interfacial π-π interaction and nucleus effect of MWNT. The mechanical properties of the PPS/CB-MWNT were enhanced considerably. |
