Carbon nanotubes(CNTs) have the excellent mechanical, electrical, thermal, and optical properties. Polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxane(POSS) molecule have successfully been incorporated into polymer systems to make hybrid materials. Hybrid meterials have high performances regarding the thermal stability, mechanical property, high gas barrier, flame resistance, transparency, and excellent solvent resistance property. In this research, the synthesis of thiol-functionalized polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxane(POSS-SH) was produced from the reaction of thiolate ligand containing an alkoxysilyl group. 4-Chlorobenzoic acid were chemically attached to the surface of MWNTs to make chlorinated MWNTs. The nanocomposites of POSS-SH and chlorinated MWNTs were syhthesized through the chemical reaction. POSS-SH was therefore covalently bound to the CNT surface.The characteristics of the nanocomposites were characterized by IR, Raman, NMR, SEM, AFM, TGA, and DSC. |
