Continuing our study on the (1,4-dihydropyridin-4-ylidene)malononitrile derivatives as a fluorescent dye, we synthesized 2-(1-propyl-2,6-distyryl-1,4-dihydropyridin-4-ylidene)malononitrile and confirmedits structurewith ¹H NMR and X-ray crystal analysis.The spectroscopic properties were also investigated.The CC bond lengths in the dihydropyridine ring are considerably shorter than those of normal single bonds and the dihedral angle between the dihydropyridine and malononitrile plane is 5.19°,which indicatesthat electrons on the dihydropyridine ring including the non-bonding electrons of the N atom are delocalized on the ring. |
