When a luminescence conversion light emitting diode (LUCO LED) was fabricated, using a commercial InGaN LED (460 nm) and 4-N,N-diphenyl-9-(4-tert-butylphenyl)-1,8-naphthalimide (DBN) in the epoxy, the emission of very bright white light was observed. However, DBN was not stable under the conditions, and the luminescent output of the LUCO LED decreased very rapidly. For long time stability of the dye, we prepared core-shell type polymer particles containing DBN in the core. The stability of the encapsulated dye was studied using DSC, TGA, fluorescence spectroscopy, etc. The results obtained from various experimental data will be presented. |
