Photonic crystals of porous Si (PSi) have been a topic of interest, because of its use in chemical and biological sensors, biomaterials, and optical devices. Detection of G-type chemical warfare agents is of great interest, since these compounds are highly toxic and received international concerns for using as chemical weapon. Methods used to detect nerve agents are currently surface acoustic wave (SAW) device, and enzymes, sing-wall carbon nanotubes, metal oxides, and organic polymers. PSi is also alternative method to detect chemical nerve agent. Here we report the efficient detection method for the nerve agent stimulant DMMP based on DBR PSi using a LED as light source. Detection of other stimulant, for example TEP and DEEP have been also investigated. |
