3-Aminopropyltrimethoxysilane (APTMOS) has been utilized as surface modifier to incorporate amine groups into silica materials. Previous studies showed that this compound does not condense to form gels under basic conditions. However, none of them paid significant attention to the product. In this study, we prepared hydrolyzed and condensed product of APTMOS in films and characterized the product both physically and chemically. It was found that this material was of low molecular weight and heavily hydrogen bonded. Formation of hydrogel, complexing with divalent ionic materials were demonstrated. Also, this materials were used as coupling agents of dicarboxylic acids to obtain hydrophilic crosslinked materials. |
