Oxidation Catalysis over Crystalline Mo3VOx Catalysts for Selective oxidation of Ethane and Acrolein |

It has been well known that Mo-V based mixed oxide catalysts are extremely active for selective oxidation of ethane and acrolein. However, only a little has been known for their catalysis. In the presentation, details of the oxidation catalysis over the Mo-V based mixed oxide catalysts are investigated using the crystalline Mo3VOx (MoVO) catalysts as the examples. The catalytic activities for these reactions were originated from the heptagonal channel site in the crystal structure, while the acrolein was converted over the heptagonal channel exposed on the catalyst surface and the ethane oxidation took place inside the channel. The work presented here provides fundamental information about the oxidation catalysis for these reactions based on the crystal structure-catalytic activity relationship and offers the way for the rational catalyst design for creating the evolutional oxidation catalysts. |
