Recently, the electronics industry has been interested in maximizing user convenience by integrating various functional features into smart electronic systems. Many studies are underway in the field of wearable electronics that can change device formats to implement these devices. In particular, MoS2 semiconductor channel is suitable for use as a driving backplane unit for active-matrix organic-light emitting diode (AMOLED) display because of its potential for switching device which comes from proper band gap property; hence, in our previous research, we demonstrated the MoS2 backplane-based display by integration with green OLED arrays for proving the potential of active-matrix display application. Here, we investigated the integration of high performance MoS2 backplane array with RGB OLEDs into the 2-inch scale display panel to realize the large area full color display as an active-matrix configuration. A total 324 number of MoS2 TFT arrays and OLEDs were integrated with each other and the driving characteristics of RGB pixels were analyzed with a specific MoS2 backplane design for RGB OLEDs operation. Furthermore, we demonstrated the AMOLED display on ultra-thin PET substrate and attached it on human hand to realize the large area, full color wearable display application. |
