Theranostic nanomedicine with integrated imaging and therapeutic modalities for simultaneous diagnosis has gained considerable interest. Especially, surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) as the inelastic light scattering of gold or silver nanoparticles is emerging as a powerful alternative for identifying specific biological targets in live cells. In this study, we developed a novel SERS probe based on gold nanochains (AuNCs) for imaging and photodynamic therapy (PDT) of cancer cells. FA was also introduced to the AuNCs as an active targeting linker. The optical property and morphology of HA-based AuNCs were evaluated. In addition, their biocompatibility, cellular localization property, and phototoxicity were investigated against MCF7 and A549 cells. |
